Born in Canandaigua, NY, Frank Townsend Hutchens rose to become an accomplished artist filling his landscape, portrait and still-life compositions with radiant color and delicate light.
Hutchens trained under artists such as Irving Ramsay Wiles, Henry Siddons Mowbray, George de Forest Brush and Frank Vincent DuMond at the Art Students League in New York, as well as Benjamin Constant and Jean Paul Laurens at the Académie Julian. He was also a student at the Colarossi and St. Gaudens Academies in Paris.
