John Henry Snow was born in February 1857 in Newton, Massachusetts to Caroline (Crocker) and Henry Snow, a stair builder. Twice married, Snow’s first wife Annie Weston passed away in 1899. In the spring of 1914, Snow married Elvira Adele Dearborn. They had no children.
While little information exists about the artist’s life census records indicate that in 1880, Snow was residing in Cambridge where he was employed as a draftsman. He later moved to the town of Waltham where he worked as a draftsman in the engineering division of Waltham Public Works. He resided in Waltham from around 1895 until his death in 1939.
Today, Snow’s work can be found in the Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport, Maine.
